Talk to your coding agent from Telegram, Discord or Slack
AgenC Core is an open source coding agent for your terminal. Its channel gateway connects it to Telegram, Discord, Slack or a browser chat, so you can message the agent running on your own computer from anywhere.
Set it up
curl -fsSL https://get.agenc.ag/install.sh | sh agenc onboard channel agenc gateway install-service
The onboard channel step asks for the bot token and saves it in your system's secure storage. install-service keeps the gateway running in the background. To try it once without installing a service:
AGENC_TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN=123:ABC agenc gateway run
Each channel
- Telegram: a bot token from BotFather.
- Discord: a bot token, with the Message Content intent turned on in the developer portal. In servers it answers when mentioned.
- Slack: a bot token and an app token, using Socket Mode, so you need no public URL.
- Browser chat:
agenc gateway run --webchatprints a local address to open.
Nobody gets in without you
- A new sender gets no access until you pair them. The pairing code shows only on your computer and expires after 10 minutes. See waiting senders with
agenc gateway pairing pending. - Chat messages can't change the agent's permissions or tools. In Discord, Slack and the browser chat, an action that needs approval asks you with a one-time token, and no answer within 5 minutes counts as no. Telegram never runs those actions.
It is the same agent
Messages go to the AgenC daemon on your machine, the same one behind the terminal UI and background agents, with the model provider you chose. All providers
Questions
Can I use a coding agent from Telegram?
Yes. AgenC Core's channel gateway connects the agent on your computer to a Telegram bot. Run agenc onboard channel, give it the bot token, and pair your account.
Does it work with Discord and Slack?
Yes. Discord needs a bot token with the Message Content intent. Slack uses Socket Mode with a bot token and an app token, so no public URL is needed.
Can strangers message my agent?
No. New senders get no access until you pair them with a code that only shows on your computer and expires after 10 minutes.
Can a chat message give the agent more permissions?
No. Chat text can't change permission modes or tools. Actions that need approval ask you with a one-time token in Discord, Slack and the browser chat, and Telegram never runs them.
