A private coding agent with Venice AI
AgenC Core is an open source coding agent for your terminal with a built-in Venice AI provider. Bring your Venice key, pick any Venice model that supports tool calling, and code with it.
Set it up
curl -fsSL https://get.agenc.ag/install.sh | sh export VENICE_API_KEY=your-key agenc --provider venice
You can also save the key in the /providers screen. Venice has its own key record in AgenC, so it never picks up an OpenAI key by mistake.
What AgenC does with Venice
- It lists the models Venice serves right now that support tool calling, with their context sizes. Pick one in
/modelor with--model venice:<id>. - It shows each model's price from Venice's own list in the status line, and budgets by it.
- It turns off Venice's built-in system prompt and its web search, scraping and citations, so the agent's own instructions and tools are the only ones in play.
- It refuses a model ID that Venice does not list, before the first request.
Privacy
Venice marks some models as private, which Venice documents as zero data retention. AgenC records that for those models. Models marked anonymized hide who is calling, but Venice does not promise they are not retained, so pick a private model when retention matters.
Pin a model
To start with the same Venice model every time, put it in ~/.agenc/config.toml:
model_provider = "venice" model = "zai-org-glm-5-2"
Venice is one of 25 providers in AgenC, and you can switch any time with /provider. All providers
Questions
Can I use Venice AI as a coding agent?
Yes. AgenC Core has a built-in Venice provider. Set VENICE_API_KEY, or save the key in the /providers screen, and start agenc --provider venice.
Which Venice models work?
Any model Venice currently serves that supports tool calling. AgenC reads Venice's live model list and shows each model's context size and price.
Is it private?
Venice documents its private models as zero data retention, and AgenC marks those models as such. Anonymized models hide who is calling but do not promise zero retention.
Does Venice's own system prompt or web search get in the way?
No. AgenC turns off Venice's system prompt and its web search, scraping and citations on every request, so the agent's own tools are the only ones in play.
